Growing Up Asian in Australia

Print Friendly

I have just finished reading Growing up Asian in Australia, edited by Alice Pung.  This lovely book is a compilation of short stories, poetry and comic.  The book had some laugh out loud moments for me. I remember in primary school I was afraid of opening my lunch box and often wishing I could have a vegemite sandwich instead of the home made pork loaf roll with soy sauce, my mum had packed for me.

The book was released several years ago but I still think it is still  a must read for everybody! Enjoy!

How about growing up European/Asian in Australia? I found this quite challenging and it took a while to find my identity. Thanks for the link on this book, im going to check it out.

I totally understand how tough it can be trying to fit into two cultures. Maybe Alice Pung could start another series, I am sure there are plenty of wonderful people out there who would be willing to share their story.
Thanks for sharing Marine and enjoy the book :)
